Harlem Nun Sues Disney, The new sony Declaring They Stole 'Sister Act'
Getty Nearly two decades following the Whoopi Goldberg comedy Sister Act hit theaters, Wally Disney Co. and The new sony Pictures are now being prosecuted with a lady who claims her autobiography was the muse for that film and also the subsequent stage musical. The complaintant is Delois Blakely, representing herself with accusations of breach of contract, misappropriation of likeness, illegal enrichment along with other claims. PHOTOS: Whoopi Goldberg along with other Oscar Hosts Over time Based on the complaint, Blakely would be a "youthful, Black, singing nun serving the road people and youths of Harlem," who released the autobiography, The Harlem Street Nunin 1987. That year, she arrived at to others in the market having a three-page synopsis, including Tri Star Pictures producer Cynthia Bowles. The film executive is stated to possess mailed instructions back indicating curiosity about movie privileges. Later, based on the claims, producer Scott Rudin required a Sister Act project from Tri-Star to Disney and continued to executive create a film that made a lot more than $230 million in the box office, in addition to creating a follow up along with a Broadway musical.
